We believe that quality
learning, academic performance, and responsible behavior can not be forced; they must be inspired! Inspiration
is not achieved through using external forms of control, i.e. threatening, punishing, bribing (rewarding), etc.
These practices result in mere compliance at best. Inspiration depends on developing positive relationships
with and among students and appealing to what intrinsically motivates them. Our purpose is to provide educators
with: 1) a compelling, research-based rationale for an intrinsic-oriented approach to teaching and managing students, and
2) specific classroom and school-wide practices and strategies that inspire: Positive student-teacher
and student-student relationships. A positive, respectful classroom & school climate & culture
Student engagement Improved learning and achievement Responsible
pro-social behavior
